She was born in Ireland, studied at the Royal Academy of Music and the Royal College of Music, and wrote songs and ballads in an Irish traditional style. She collaborated with songwriter Francis Fahy, among others. About two hundred of her songs exist and some have been issued on recordings. Needham won a £100 prize for the best composition in honor of the coronation of King Edward VII. She died in London in 1945.. }
