He bequeathed a sum of money to create an establishment of learning for all comers. The school was founded in 1559, having recently celebrated the 450th anniversary of the school the Alumni Association of the school, the Old Tamensian Association, still celebrate life at the school which is presently run as a comprehensive school having previously been a grammar school.
