From the base there rises the elegant, slender case. The clock is probably the only surviving one that was made at the Cape during the 18th century. It was made by Johann Michael Junck who arrived at the Cape from Furfeld in Germany in the ship Bleijswijk in 1765. This old grandfather clock is an outstanding example of the fine craftsmanship that was practised at the Cape during the 18th century.. }
