Several recent studies have shown user preference to Natural Language Interfaces (NLIs) in comparison to others. Although many NLIs to ontologies have been developed, those that have reasonable performance are domain-specific and tend to require customisation for each new domain which, from a developer''s perspective, makes them expensive to maintain and unattractive for practical applications spanning different domains. In this paper we describe FREyA, a system which combines three methods used to assist the user while interacting with the system: feedback, query refinement, and query expansion. These are used in combination to explore whether the performance of existing NLI systems to ontologies can be improved without the extra cost of extensive customisation. We present an evaluation using Mooney geography dataset in order to compare our approach with other similar systems.. }
