One of the most relevant questions arguably deals with the coexistence of Neanderthals and modern humans, and the resulting economic competition and/or acculturation, in any given region of that area. This study represents the first part of an analysis of the Competition Hypothesis for France, and focuses on the broader timeframe of MIS 3-5e, both to gain some exploratory insights into the matter of resource intensification between Mousterian, Chatelperronian, and Aurignacian, and to establish the value of the basic prey model (and the modifications we applied) in this particular timeframe.. }
