Today, the events involved are considered one of the most important chapters of Brazil‟s history. In the Netherlands, however, the Brazilian experience functions as a blind spot in the national historiography. Nevertheless, the Dutch colonization of Brazil resulted in a whole arsenal of manuscripts and images. One of these texts is „the report of Roulox Baro‟. At the age of 7 Roulox was sent to the West Indies. After a childhood spent among tupi Indians he became interpreter for the West Indies Company and led a couple of missions to the interior of the country. The log of his 1647 expedition survived. We will present a cultural and historical analysis of this report. Durante 30 anos (1624-1654), os holandeses ocuparam territórios no Nordeste brasileiro. Hoje, os eventos são considerados como um dos mais importantes capítulos da história brasileira. Na Holanda, pelo contrário, a experiência brasileira funciona como um ponto cego na historiografia nacional. Todavia, a colonização do Brasil resultava num arsenal de manuscritos e imagens. O “relato de Roulox Baro” faz parte desta produção. Aos sete anos de idade, foi enviado às Índias Ocidentais. Conviveu durante toda a juventude com os tupis. Adulto, tornou-se interprete a serviço da Companhia das Índias Ocidentais e comandou algumas expedições no interior. O registro da expedição de 1647 sobrevive. Vamos apresentar uma análise cultural e histórica do relato.. }
