The implementation of an iterative reconstruction algorithm, SART, provides new opportunities to improve reconstruction quality. Some of the main advantages of this algorithm are its flexibility and the fact that it “simulates” the imaging process. For elongated samples, a helical trajectory has been implemented in the scanner control software and the reconstruction software, which also solves the so-called cone beam artifacts. For CT scans showing phase artifacts, two different reconstruction algorithms are used at UGCT. The Modified Bronnikov Algorithm (MBA) and Bronnikov-Aided Correction (BAC) are complementary and improve image quality and possibilities for post-processing. In this paper, all these and some other developments in tomographic reconstruction and artifact reduction are discussed.. }
