By this method, the oxidation of the current-multiplicating reactants 1,2-ethanediol, 1,2,3-propanetriol and ethanedial at the single crystal ZnO anode was investigated. From the analysis of the electrical signal as a function of frequency, it was deduced that a phenomenon with a time constant of the order of 10−5 sec. is involved in the anodic processes. It follows, that the lifetime of the intermediate radicals, formed during the oxidation reactions, is not larger than 10−5 sec.".
