- aggregation title "Urban governance of security through bubbles of security?: case-study Ghent central railway station".
- aggregation abstract "Urban redevelopment is no longer a matter of governments alone. Development projects are increasingly operated through a partnership of government and private organizations. Given this context we wonder whether urban governance of security in Belgium goes hand in hand with the development of ‘bubbles of security’? In this case-study we make use of the project of the rail station ‘Ghent Sint-Pieters’. Our analysis takes into account the nodal-network fallacy introduced by Shearing and Johnston (2010). In our nodal analysis we will address (for example) the question which actors participate in the promotion of security and what types of knowledge, capabilities and resources they bring to the situation, which nodes are neglected and how these actors shape their ways of thinking about security. Question to be answered in relation to the network analysis are (for example) how do different actors relate to one another and if nodal relations are co-operative, competitive or non-existent?".
