By 1985, the Lady Dogs were in the National Championship game.Since arriving at UGA, Landers has been named National Coach of the Year four times and SEC Coach of the Year three times, and has led the Lady Dogs to 23 NCAA Tournaments, five Final Fours, seven SEC regular-season titles, four SEC tournament championships, and 21 twenty-win seasons. He has coached two Olympians (who have won a combined six Gold Medals) and 11 Kodak All-Americans. Landers was awarded the US Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) Coach of the Year award in 2000.Today, his average of 24.4 wins per season ranks fourth among all active Division I women's basketball head coaches, as do his 789 total victories. Of the fourteen Division I women's basketball head coaches to reach 600 wins, Landers made it the fifth-quickest, surpassing the mark after only 784 games.
