- Auberge_d'Italie,_Birgu abstract "The Auberge d'Italie (Maltese: Berġa tal-Italja) was one of the eight auberges built in Birgu, Malta, for the langues of the knights of the Order of Saint John. It housed the langue of Italy until the building of a new Auberge d'Italie in Valletta in 1579. It was the only Auberge in Birgu to be built outside the collachio. Inside the Auberge there was also a small naval hospital and a chapel dedicated to St Catherine. An Auberge was constructed in the 1530s and it was completely rebuilt between 1553 and 1554. The Auberge was heavily damaged during World War II but a few features of the facade survived. Between 1961 and 1963 the site was rebuilt and the remains were integrated into the new buildings. Today the only traces of the Auberge are the corner of the building with a partially defaced coat of arms, some mouldings and the base of a balcony. The remains were listed as a Grade 2 national monument on 22 December 2009.".
