On 18 June 1945, in Toyama Bay, the submarine USS Bonefish (SS-223) was sunk by the combined efforts of the escort ships Okinawa, CD-207, CD-158, CD-75, and CD-63.After the surrender of Japan on 15 August 1945, CD-207 was demilitarized (stripped of all her offensive weapons) and under Allied direction served as a transport ship repatriating Japanese troops and civilians from 1 December 1945 until the end of 1946.
