- Alabama_Crimson_Tide_football_under_Nick_Saban abstract "Alabama Crimson Tide football under Nick Saban covers the history of the University of Alabama Crimson Tide college football team during the period from when Nick Saban was hired as head coach in 2007 through the present. Under Saban, Alabama plays as part of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS), and is a member of the West Division of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). The Crimson Tide plays its home games at Bryant–Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. During the seven years Saban has served as head football coach, Alabama has compiled an overall official record of 74–15 (.831) (79–15 on the field), seven bowl game appearances with five victories, three SEC Western Division championships, two SEC championships, and three national championships. After repeated denials, on January 3, 2007, Saban officially accepted the head coaching position with the Crimson Tide. In his first season at Alabama, the team experienced many highs-and-lows, but the team finished with a winning record after a victory in the Independence Bowl. In the 2008 season, Saban led the Crimson Tide to their first undefeated regular season since the 1994 season, but the proceeded to lose their final two games in the SEC Championship Game and Sugar Bowl. In 2009, Saban led Alabama to a perfect 14–0 record and to their first BCS National Championship, and their first overall national championship since the 1992 season. After a relatively disappointing 2010 season, Saban then led the Crimson Tide to back-to-back BCS National Championships in both the 2011 and 2012 seasons. The 2013 team lost their final two games en route to an 11 wins season, but failed to capture a third consecutive national championship for Alabama. Many players who have competed at Alabama during Saban's tenure have also been recognized for their on-field accomplishments. Under his tenure, Mark Ingram, Jr. became Alabama's first Heisman Trophy winner and 28 players have been recognized as First Team All-Americans, sixteen of which were either consensus or unanimous selections. Additionally, 33 former Crimson Tide players have been drafted into the National Football League, with 14 being first round selections.".
