In April 2000, AmCham-Jordan officially became a member of the United States Chamber of Commerce, thus becoming Jordan's first and only American chamber of commerce.In 2004, AmCham-Jordan proposed the establishment of a Regional Council of American Chambers of Commerce (AmCham) in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Region to coordinate collaboration among AmChams to promote greater business opportunities between the United States and the Africa and the Middle East regions.The initial formation of the council was launched during AmCham-Jordan's American Jordanian Expo 2004. The American Chambers of Commerce in Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco, Tunisia, and Algeria signed a protocol launching the AmCham Middle East North Africa (MENA) Regional Council initiative in Beirut, Lebanon in July 2005.".
