GOLD MEDAL IN 2013 WORLD ARTISTIC ROLLER SKATING CHAMPIONSHIP 2013 AT TAIPEI, TAIWAN IN INLINE CATEGORY.CONTRIBUTION TO INDIA AND THE SPORT SKATING:-GIVING BACK TO THE SOCIETY AND THE SPORT what it has given him is what Anup has always believed in. When Anup won the 2 bronze medals at the Asian Games 2010 and he stood on the podium, this was the time when he decided that he would give back India, Skating and the Society at large what it has given him. This thought propelled him to start his skating academy called the YAMA SKATING ACADEMY where he, along with his father and brother, trains young children who are actively becoming national champions. His Father Veeresh Yama and Brother Amar Nag Yama are the head coaches of the Yama Skating Academy and while they both are Anup's coaches, they also train many young skaters and conduct summer camps for skaters from all over India to promote the sport and impart knowledge. Upon asking Mr. Veeresh as to what made him do this kind gesture, all he had to say was, " When Anup was young, there was zero knowledge about Skating in India. He had no seniors to look up to and learn. We had to travel a lot and meet many coaches and train in their presence. We bought various books of Skating and studied them and experimented various ideas and techniques. This was strenuous and time consuming but there was a lot of interest and zeal to learn. The passion was always burning. Having no right guidance we learnt things the hard way and it took us a lot of time and spending a lot of money. We do not want this to happen to any other skater ever. And thus this is the reason why we conduct these camps for skaters from all over India to impart knowledge and the right techniques."The zeal and passion to teach ignited even further when Anup stood on the podium and received his World Gold Medal in 2013 where he decided to train many more skaters, reach out to them and make world champions for India.Anup is an active socialist and skates for many causes like the "Hriday Shan" which actively promotes healthy living practices by saying no to tobacco and irresponsible alcohol consumption. Anup has also conducted free workshops of skating for physically challenged children and teenagers and mentally challenged children. Upon winning the World Gold Medal he was invited as the chief guest at Infosys Office, Gachibowli, Hyderabad as the chief guest to attend the CRICKET for The BLIND event organised by Youth For Seva. He gives motivational speeches in many schools, colleges and various gatherings where he is invited and never misses the opportunity to urge people to believe in themselves and their nation. When asked, all he had to say was , " It makes my day, week, month and year when I do something good and when my activities benefit the society at large."".
