- Carl_King abstract "Carl Thomas King is a fictional character (played by Tom Lister) from the British soap opera Emmerdale. The character was first announced in January 2004, when The Sun announced that the show was introducing "four new single 'hunks'", who were all brothers. Carl made his first appearance on 6 February 2004 and was introduced alongside his father Tom (Ken Farrington) and two elder brothers Jimmy (Nick Miles) and Matthew (Matt Healy); a younger brother Max (Charlie Kemp) was introduced a year later. In September 2012 it was announced that to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the show a live episode would take place during which one major character would be killed off. Carl was killed during the live episode which took place on 15 October 2012, murdered by love rival Cameron Murray (Dominic Power), and made his final appearance as a corpse on 18 October 2012.During his time on the show Carl was most popularly remembered for his on/off relationship with Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter), a relationship which was rocked by Carl's various flings, with arguably the most memorable one being with Eve Jenson, a storyline which culminated on his wedding day to Chas when she publicly humiliates him. He was also involved in the high profile Who Killed Tom King? storyline, in which his father was pushed from a window on his wedding day. The storyline came to a dramatic climax with Carl being revealed as the man who killed his father. He also accidentally caused the death of postman Paul Marsden and had a failed marriage to Lexi Nicholls. ITV.com once described Carl stating "Carl is a bit of a womanizer and a ladies' man" but also stated "Carl has a bad temper and has been responsible for two accidental deaths - so he's not one to be crossed". Actor Tom Lister has been nominated for numerous awards including "Sexiest Male" and "Villain of the Year" at The British Soap Awards. His departure in the show's 40th anniversary live episode was also nominated for "Best Exit" at The British Soap Awards.".

- Carl_King quote ""It's one of those things that I think is to do with the chemistry on screen and the fieriness of their relationship. When they are together, it works. The chemistry is great and the passion is obviously there between the two of them. But then they can go to the other extreme when they are screaming at one another and wanting to smack each other's heads in. It's a really turbulent relationship [...] They want them to be together".".
