- Cole_Classic abstract "The Cole Classic is an open-water swimming event, held annually at Manly in Sydney, Australia. Organisers publicise it as one of Australia's longest running ocean swims; historically it was viewed as one of the most prestigious open-water swims in Sydney. It was started by the Cole family in 1982, however is now organised by Fairfax Events (the same team behind the City2surf) for The Sydney Morning Herald, in conjunction with the Manly Life Saving Club. [1]The race takes place on the first Sunday in February. Originally staged at Bondi Beach, in 2007 it was relocated to Manly, on the northern side of Sydney Harbour. Coinciding with the move, a 1 km swim was added to the existing 2 km event, to encourage participation of novice swimmers. Both events now start from Shelly Beach and finish at Manly's Steyne Beach.".
