- Desh_Subba abstract "Desh Subba is a writer and novelist of Nepal, best known for his novel Apamaan. He started the philosophy of Fearism in Nepali literature.About the authorDesh Subba, the son of Kubirjang Limbu and Tilamati Limbu was born in 1965 in Dharan, eastern part of Nepal. He was unable to have access to proper education due to his poverty. His father left for Assam, a part of India when he was only eleven days old, never to come back home. Then, hills of hardships stood for his family with the sole responsibility of his mother to bring him up. His eldest sister was sister in relation but a mother in her responsibility. His mother had the second marriage for the sake of her children. Two sisters were born to his step-father. He could not get financial support from his step-father as he had another wife and many children in Taplejung, the eastern part of Nepal. He was admitted to local government school for his formal education when he was eleven years old. Later, he went to Kathmandu and began to live with his relatives for his higher education. First he was admitted to Pashupati Campus in Kathmandu where he studied for two years. He worked day and night to complete his master degree level study. Now, he works and lives in Hon Kong. He is working hard on fearism even if he lives there. Fearsim Study Academy is established in Dharan, Nepal to develop Fearism philosophy.People say about 'Fearism'1. “Fearism is a gift to the world from Nepali.” - Pro. Dr. Tanka Prasad Neupane, Chairman, Fearism Study Centre: Baicharik Chintan, 2066 v.s.2. “Fearism of Desh Subba has shaken the foundation of Nepali literature and intellectual world.” – Yese Dorje Thongsi, Indian Literary Academy winner, Arunachal Pradesh, India, 31 March, 2013, Pratidin Assamis Daily Assam, India.3. “Fearism is under the neo-criticism consists of different thoughts and isms. Dr. Kavita Lama, Head of the Department, Sikkim University, Sikkim, India. Annapurna Post, July 17, 2012.4. “Fearism is a new concept; it is utilized to keep the cultural dominance and the matrix of superiority intact in a situation of multicultural society for the purpose of wielding abusive power and justifying such acts using other’s fear. Identification of the practice of fearism would take us to deeper layers of psychological impact that the victims suffer from. However, the apprehension of dismay, the fright of terror, the panic and horror and all the dreadful and painful emotion will end up its threatening danger when one has realized there was this kind of dominance and one is prepared to fight against it.” – Pro. Dr. Streamlet Dakhar, Khashi Language department, Nehru University, Silong, Meghalaya, India.5. “Fear is a founder of human emotion. It is the fear that directs human activities. If man had no fear, s/he would be dull, that is, inactive but Adolf Hitler was not inactive, for fear was existent in him and as a result of this he made an attempt to be a winner being the Second World War leader. The world would call him a coward in case of being a failure as the world winner. Hence he felt compelled to be undaunted or undeterred owing to this internal fear. By this it is clear that he was active by dint of his outstanding bravery brought out by human emotion as regards fear. It is a partial instance. Desh Subba has essentially presented the several expressions of an apt human emotion by means of convincing instances and dealt with them in parts in the instrument of fearism in which various forms of human emotion have turned into an imagery and reflection. And he has also had a thoughtful approach to the positive way for the removal of fear to render these forms explicitly. This is the fearism to be discussed and talk about. His fearism will make Nepali literary world and the world literature to have been considered and studied.” Bikram Bir Thapa, Indian Literary Academy Winner, Shilang, Meghalaya, India.6. "Fearism yields an alternative interpretation of class struggle." Prof. Dr. Gobinda Raj Bhattarai, Central Department of Education English, T.U. Kirtipur, Kathmandu, Nepal.7. “Fearism is a new perspective to look at life and the world.” Pro. Dr. Durga Prasad Aryal, Padmkanya Multiple Campus, Kathmandu, Nepal.9. “Fear is factual and ancient whereas fearism is original. It exists along with the existence of human being. Human civilization started right from fear. A ceaseless effort has been made on solution and emancipation. Desh Subba has attempted to study fear pervasively. The way that focuses on fear to interpret human life is fearism. In my opinion, a philosophical thinking didn’t come into being apart from Buddhism in Nepal. Here Desh Subba has made his attempt to offer this philosophical thinking to the human civilization in the world. Its application to a literary theory is not right and just. It makes an impact on important aspect of life. All isms like spiritualism, materialism, Marxim and Freudism more than a mare aspect. Fearism is also the same. It’s a new dimension to the world.” Dr. Tanka Nath Khatiwada, Presidency College, the Head of Hindi Department, Imphal, Manipur, India.10. “Fearism makes a deep study on fear and finds out a way towards emancipation. Desh Subba has propounded an ism. It is a new experiement in Nepali literature.” Bhawani Adhikari, Poknafirm Daily, April 6, 2013 Manipuri language daily, Manipur, India.11. “Propounder of Fearism, Desh Subba believes on its benevolence to the human being. All people from different languages, castes/ethnicities, and religions comprehend as well as adopt this philosophy.” Rana Kafle, Asamis language Dainik Pratibedan, August 3, 2013, Asasm, India.12. “To demand for an ancient Gorkhaland by Gorkhalis, attempts on preserving literature, culture and language, establishement of ethnic institutions and launching movements are guided by the fear for existence.” Rohit Gautam, Editor, Sapriyar Monthly Magazine, April 2013, Asam, India.13. “Fearism propounded by Desh Subba, a novelist and thinker is the latest philosophy.” Pradip Manyanbo, Kantipur daily, February 18, 2013. 14.
