- Equivital abstract "The Equivital brand was developed to harness the power of mobile human data; that is data from real people in real environments. It was created by Hidalgo Limited in 2009, a Cambridge UK based biomedical company. Hidalgo had released one of the first generations of wearable technologies designed for Remote physiological monitoring: the EQ01 LifeMonitor. In 2010 the Training and Research (TnR) product range was launched as Equivital’s first complete product line designed specifically for the professional & research markets. The TnR product range included a combination of sensors and software including the new EQ02 LifeMonitor. The best in class EQ02 LifeMonitor is a wearable technology that senses, records and processes data measured from the person and transmits this over a wireless or wired interface. The EQ02 LifeMonitor has FDA 510(k) & CE clearance for a class IIb medical device. The device can monitor a range of physiological signs including heart rate, body position, movement, respiration, skin and core body temperature.[2] The system was developed to meet a wide range of end user requirements and has been used by over 150 research institutes and universities for research into industrial safety, emergency services, sports and sports science, and extreme exploration.Building on the success of the TnR Range, the Equivital product portfolio was expanded to include a number of real-time physiological monitoring systems based around the latest iteration of the Equivital Technology Platform. The first of these systems was the Black Ghost Military Training system launched in February 2013. Black Ghost is a scalable military training system that provides real-time situational awareness including geo-location, geo-fencing and real-time safety alerts and alarms from soldiers within the training environment. The second system launched in April 2013 was Black Ghost Industrial Safety and Welfare (ISAW), a real-time safety, welfare and wellbeing monitoring system designed for use by workers that operate in challenging, potentially hazardous and explosive industrial environments.Black Ghost ISAW benefits from an intrinsically safe version of the EQ02 LifeMonitor. Hidalgo achieved IECEX, ATEX and Class 1, Division 1 certification for its flagship wearable sensor enabling the system to be used in hazardous and explosive environments across Europe and North America. It is the first body worn multi parameter physiological sensor system to receive this certification in the world. The latest product to be launched under the Equivital brand is Orann, which is targeted at the pharmaceutical innovation and clinical trials market. Orann provides person centric, real world human data acquisition and management systems enabling the measurement of key subjective and objective subject information in clinical and real world settings. Orann is used for single site early phase trials, global multi-site centralized studies and innovation development (algorithm development, biomarkers and companion diagnostics). To date Equivital has been featured in a number of high profile projects. In 2012 Equivital was involved in the Red Bull Stratos world record breaking project - Mission to the Edge of Space. Equivital was chosen from almost 100 different physiological body monitors to gather Felix Baumgartner's Vital Statitics. The Equivital LifeMonitor recorded the effect of the jump on Felix's body, monitoring his welfare and wellbeing throughout. The data acquired by Dr Jonathan Clarke and the rest of the Red Bull medical team has been shared with scientists and researchers, including NASA.Equivital recently joined forces with one of the world’s largest automotive manufacturers to capture the human response to driving. In the Mercedes Sound with Power TV advert the driver is fitted with a sensor to track his physiological response to the sound and experience of driving the new E63 AMG.Equivital used their body worn sensor technologies to collect data that would indicate the driver’s authentic real time response to the car. This data was analyzed by the Equivital data analytics team and translated into a simple index based representation of that driver’s human response. This was the basis for the visualization of the driver’s emotions in the advert.".
