She is a graduate of San Francisco State University and earned her master's degree in journalism from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. She is married with three children.A native of San Francisco and based in Florida, Mires is credited with the launch of Spanish language network Telemundo's highly rated, flagship news magazine Ocurrió Así in 1990, hosted by Enrique Gratas and later by Pedro Sevcec.
