- Fry_Art_Gallery abstract "The Fry Art Gallery is an art gallery located in Saffron Walden, Essex, England. Edward Bawden who with his friend Eric Ravilious discovered Bardfield and dominated the scene for almost two decades is well represented by his linocuts, watercolours, posters, ceramics, books and other printed material,as is Eric Ravilious. The gallery currently displays watercolours by Ravilious, plus lithographs, books, fabric, ceramics and a collection of woodblocks, as well as two of his scrapbooks. Also in the collection is work by Tirzah Garwood, Mrs Eric Ravilious.The gallery was designed to house the collection of Francis Gibson, a local Quaker businessman who died in 1859 and the building passed by descent to the Fry family. In its present form the gallery was established in 1985 and it is managed by the Fry Art Gallery Society. The Gallery's permanent collection is rotated annually and new works added, these works are complemented by changing exhibitions in the gallery.The Fry houses an impressive number of art works by artists who have local connections with north west Essex. Artists of note include Edward Bawden RA , Eric Ravilious, Michael Rothenstein RA, Michael Ayrton, Paul Beck, Sir George Clausen RA, Robert Colquhoun,Keith Vaughan, John Aldridge RA, John Bellany RA, Grayson Perry RA, Robert MacBryde, and the photographer, Edwin Smith.".
