- Ganslernhang abstract "The Ganslernhang (or Ganslern for short) is a ski piste in Kitzbühel in Austria, on which the slalom events of the Hahnenkamm Races take place. The slope has numerous changes of terrain and lies at an oblique angle making it one of the most challenging slalom courses in the Alpine Ski World Cup. It is located next to the final straight of the Streif downhill course, but has its own finishing arena. The name "Ganslernhang" comes from a farmstead that stood there until 1993 and took its name from a stream, the Gänsbach, which flowed past it.The Hahnenkamm slalom took place for the first time on the Ganslern in 1937. Even before the introduction of the World Cup in 1967 it was one of the annual fixtures in FIS's racing calendar. In the years 1964, 1988 and 1993 the slalom had to be cancelled. In 1998 there was – as in 1971 – an additional slalom in Kitzbühel. However, due to the snow situation the two races that year had to be carried out on a different route, running down the so-called Vorderganslern and the finish straight of the downhill run into its finishing arena. In 2007 and 2008 this route was chosen again due to the high number of spectators. In 2009 it returned again to the traditional Ganslernhang course. The record holder for the most wins on the Ganslernhang is Ingemar Stenmark, who won five slalom races here.→ See also: FIS Alpine Ski World Cup".
