- Gary_Stackhouse abstract "Gary Stackhouse (born August 21, 1965 in Saint John, New Brunswick) is a Canadian entertainer and radio host. Following a successful career as a touring and recording musician in Canada's Maritime Provinces in the 1980s, Stackhouse turned to a career in radio. He has worked in news, production and creative writing in addition to hosting on air shows in New Brunswick and in Southern Ontario at Brantford's CKPC-FM 92.1. As its first Program Director, Stackhouse was instrumental in the launch of radio station NewSong FM (CINB) in his hometown of Saint John, New Brunswick in 2001. He also was General Manager and main architect of the re-branding of Comedy Radio CFHA in Saint John to 103.5 “The Pirate” (CJEF), a short-lived but innovative youth station which mixed Urban and Modern Rock with Spoken Word Comedy. He also hosted that station's morning show as “Captain Stack in the Morning”. He left the position in 2007 after disagreements with the station ownership over the direction of the station.Stackhouse's musical career began during his time attending Saint John High School, where he played with numerous bands, including roots rock outfit "The Rockabilly Fury". He joined Wink & The Pleasers after graduating in 1983 and played with the band for two different stints, and was featured as guitar player on the band's video of "Hat and Cane" which was the most requested independent video on Canada's nationwide video network MuchMusic for several weeks in 1984. After leaving the band, he played guitar, keyboards and bass in several other bands while continuing to record and release his own material. He has had several minor regional hits recorded under the band pseudonym "Magic Sandwich", including "Wash Away" (originally written as an attempt to gain an audition for the TV reality show Rock Star: INXS), "Always Call You Friend" (a Valentine's gift for his then-girlfriend) and "Piggy Man" (dedicated to CJEF owner Geoff Rivett, who was his employer at the time). During his time in Brantford, he formed the tongue-in-cheek act "The Chas Maverick Connection" with Greg Moulton (drums and vocals) and Mike Ellsworth (bass and vocals), friends and fellow co workers, originally as a throw away band for the Brantford Santa Claus parade, but became popular performing at several charity events, including the Katrina Hurricane benefit at the Brantford Sanderson Centre, and recording many cover songs with the band, on the cd Ken's On Remote. Stackhouse has also become known for writing and performing parody songs. Stackhouse is also the lead singer and plays guitar and keyboards for the band "The Accidental Legends", also featuring Ryan Massey (bass), Bill Brayley (guitar) and Peter Hanson (drums).Stackhouse was hired as the host of the popular Stack in the Morning show on 98.9 Big John FM (CJYC) in Saint John, NB, in 2008. He and six co-workers unionized in 2011 to seek better wages and working conditions and began a legal strike against the station's owner, Maritime Broadcasting System on June 25th, 2012.He is also is a popular voiceover artist in the region, producing voiceovers at his home studio as well as at The Voice Factory in Saint John. In addition, Stackhouse has utilized his production talents to provide inexpensive recording opportunities for young bands and artists in the region at the studio.".
