George's greatest achievement however, was on My Three Sons the sitcom starring Fred MacMurray which he created under the ever watchful eye of Executive Producer Don Fedderson. He wrote a massive 96 scripts of the show's 380 episodes (more than that of any other writer) and served the series as a Line Producer (in Season 2) and its Story Editor and Consultant for most of the twelve seasons the show was on the air. He died of cancer in 1987. His son Douglas Tibbles was also a television script writer who co-wrote teleplays both solely and with his father on numerous shows.Tibbles also wrote the popular Oscar-nominated song "The Woody Woodpecker Song" and the theme for the CBS series Bringing Up Buddy, which ran from 1960-1961 and Pistols 'n' Petticoats in 1966-67.His birthplace was New York City. He died in Rancho Mirage, California.".
