- History_of_Paris_Saint-Germain_F.C. abstract "Paris Saint-Germain Football Club is a professional football club based in Paris, France. The capital club was founded on 12 August 1970 following the merger of Paris FC and Stade Saint-Germain. However, two years later, the 1971–72 season was marked by the split between the Parisians and the Sangermanois. The professional arm of the club joined CA Montreuil and continued life in Ligue 1 under the name of Paris FC, while PSG assumed amateur status and started over in Division 3. Looking for new backing, following PSG’s promotion to Ligue 2 in 1973, President Henri Patrelle made way for investor Daniel Hechter and the club attained professional status. PSG returned to Ligue 1 in 1974, ironically at the same time that Paris FC was relegated, and moved into the Parc des Princes that year. Since then, PSG has never been relegated from the French first division.".
