- Hooker_with_a_Penis abstract ""Hooker with a Penis" is a song by the American rock band Tool. It was released on September 17, 1996, as the seventh track off their second studio album, Ænima. The song is one of the heaviest tracks from the album, and perhaps one of the heaviest songs by Tool. The preceding track on the album, "Message to Harry Manback", serves as a kind of prologue to the song. It depicts a voicemail message being played out as though being listened to from an answering machine. The message, spoken partly in Italian and partly in broken English, cryptically threatens the listener that they are in possible danger. Throughout the track, a piano plays gently in the background. The song deviates greatly from the theme of the rest of the Ænima album. While the rest of the album explores many different concepts of change, the lyrics behind "Hooker with a Penis" are fairly straightforward. It refers to a fan who accused the band of going soft, or selling out after releasing 1992's Opiate. Maynard responds to the fan by pointing out the hypocrisy of such a statement, noting anyone who listens to bands and buys music is a sellout themselves and that everything you "read and wear and hear and see on TV is a product". "OGT" is taken to stand for "Original Gangster Tool". Keenan whispers in the left channel throughout the song. At 1:41, "consume, be fruitful, and multiply" may be alluding to Genesis, which contains the phrase "be fruitful and multiply" six times. It received generally positive reviews by music critics, although some criticized that the song detaches itself from the album's carefully plotted concept, and even that the track felt "tacked-on" to the album. Nonetheless, it remains a fan favorite. During Lollapalooza 1997, a version of "Hooker with a Penis" remixed by Billy Howerdel in the form of lounge music played over the public address system between sets. The band played at the festival in 1997.".
