- Horsetrough_Mountain abstract "Horsetrough Mountain, with a summit elevation of 4,045 feet (1,233 m), is located in Union and White counties in northeastern Georgia, USA. It is also within the boundaries of the Chattahoochee National Forest and is part of the Mark Trail Wilderness. The Eastern Continental Divide follows the main ridge line that makes up the mountain, crossing the peak. Water to the south and east of the mountain flows to the Atlantic Ocean, while water to the north and west of the mountain flows to the Gulf of Mexico. Streams from Horsetrough Mountain form some of the headwaters of the Chattahoochee River, and the West Fork Little River. The Appalachian Trail follows the main ridge line of the mountain but does not cross the summit. Horsetrough Falls is located on the southern side of the mountain. Two low-power analog TV stations and one digital station transmit from the mountain: WDWW-LP 28+ Cleveland, WGGD-LD 15− Cleveland, and WBUD-LP 38+ Blairsville. Currently, WDWW and WGGD list the same geographic coordinates, indicating they share a tower, while WBUD is offset by two arcseconds north and east, indicating it may be separated by about 80 meters (260 ft). However, all three are moving their digital TV operations southward toward metro Atlanta. According to construction permits issued by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), WDWW is moving to the centrally-located North Druid Hills site, while WGGD is moving to a site near Buford in the far northeastern exurbs, and WBUD has applied to do so, such that they will share a tower. The stations will change their cities of license to Atlanta, Gainesville, and Buford, respectively.Additionally, W234BF FM 94.7 Helen has a permit to move to Horsetrough Mountain as W233xx FM 94.5 Clermont, the nearest town to the mountain. The coordinates for this station are offset to the east-northeast of the first two.".
