- Hussain_Tekri abstract "The shrine of Hussain Tekri was built by the Nawab of Jaora, Mohammad Iftikhar Ali Khan Bahadur, in the 19th century. It is situated on the outskirts of Jaora town in the Ratlam district of Malwa region of Madhya Pradesh, India.Mohammad Iftikhar Ali Khan Bahadur was buried in the same graveyard where Hussain Tekri is built. During the month of Moharram, thousands of people from all over the world visit the shrines of Hazrat Imam Hussain here, which is a true replica of the ones in Iraq. The place is famous for the rituals called Hajri to cure the incurable mental sicknesses. However the history of this place is not very clear and precise but according to the widely held belief, One night, few horse riders were seen at this place, where presently the shrine is located and it was assumed that souls of martyrs of karbala were riding the horses, since it was the same day, when Imam Hussain (r.a) embraced shahadat at karbala, so the locals of the area built the shrine. It is also believed that a water pond was also created overnight, which never existed before. Barelvis, shia and Hindus visit the shrine to get relief from jinns, ghosts and demons, believing that all such creatures ultimately surrender before the shrine and leave the bodies of the victims. This place has a very long history of curing the incurable. People have been raising eyebrows nowadays over the genuineness of this place. Chellum (40th from Aashura) is a prime occasion where hundreds of thousands people gather to seek refuge from Hazrat Ali Ibn Abu Talib. There is notably a very famous incident that is always considered with the history of formation of Hussain Tekri.About 135 years back in the princely state of Jaora. At that time the state of Jaora was ruled and governed by then Nawab Mohammed Iftekhar Ali Khan. The city of Jaora was considered to be the capital of the state of Malwa. Nawabsahab had a very distinctive affection for Jaora city. He loved the city to an extent that the city use to get the city washed twice a day.It happened coincidentally that the festive time of 2 religions collided together. An evening fell on the occasion of 10th Moharram (Ashura) & Ram Navmi. Ashura is considered one of the revered evening in Islamic culture, So as Ram Navmi hold a high prestige in Hinduism. Later on that evening it happened that the troop belong to both the religions had to take their religious activities on foot. Muslim had to take their Taziyah on shoulders and circulate the city in remembrance of Hazrat Imam Hussain. On the other hand a group of Ram Leela artist had to take their troops from places to places to perform an act from the book of Ramayan. Jaora was a province ruled by Nawab the order were clear to both the groups. Irrespective of the situation the Ram Leela group cannot go ahead of the Muslim troop.Jaora is in the state of Malwa which is mostly considered Desert. The temperature drops drastically during winters in desert. This was one the coldest evening of Jaora. The taziyah that was getting carried on the shoulders of Muslim was very heavy. The taziyah would easily require close to 50-60 people for any kind of movement. The chill started taking its toll on the Muslims. And instead of continuing with their course they decided to take a break and warm themselves over a bonfire. This action of Muslim troop started delaying the journey of the Hindu because they cannot pass by the Muslims as per the orders from Nawab. This act was leading to an unnecessary argument between Hindus and Muslims. in order to avoid any disputes leading to confrontation of 2 religion some people approached Nawab. After explaining the entire situation to him the Nawab granted access to Hindus to go ahead of the Muslim group. After crossing few meters away from bonfire; The Hindu troop notices that the Taziyah that needs 50-60 people for a lift is airborne. The Taziyah is about 2 meters in air and is moving somewhere slowly. Completely panicked and terrified by looking the scene they ran to inform the Muslim troop about the incident. Muslim troop quickly rushed to the scene only to realize that the Taziyah is arborne and on its way somewhere. Most of the people started shivering in fear an ran off, however some stayed back to see where the Taziyah was going ? The Taziyah travelled for sometime and came to a rest. People following the Taziyah waited for the dawn so that they inform the Nawab about the incident. The place where the Taziyah came to standstill is known as Bazaar Mandi in present time city of Jaora. There is structure built around it to house the Taziyah.Later on in the morning people visited Nawabsahab and narrated the entire incident. For some reason Nawabsahab didn't seems much surprised... The same night when the incident of Taziyah took place; Nawabsahab had a very interesting dream. He narrated his dream as,"I saw a very olderly face in my dream. The face was glooming like a flower and shining like a sun. There was an exquisite aura around his face. The entity seems very holy to him. The entity said,"We like this place. We would like you to draw a boundary around the place we've chosen. Out far in the jungle outside the city limit you should draw a boundary. Secure the area in the forest where you get constant fragnance of Musk". The dream re-collected in Nawabsahabs thought after listening to the Taziyah incident. Nawabsahab discussed both the incidents with his group of Islamic scholars. They advised this is definitely an act and requirement of someone very holy & he should proceed further with drawing a boundary without any delay. Nawabsahab did what was advised to him with all sincerity and care.Strangely the same night a man by the name of Mohammed Ismail had a similar dream. Mohammed Ismail use to be a leather merchant running his business from Bombay (so called then...). He sees a similar holy face in his dream. He narrates his dream as,"I saw a bright and illuminating face with rays of Noor coming from everywhere. The entity tell me that there is a place by the name of Jaora. And in the outskirts of the place is a forest kind of place. In that forest there is an secured by a boundary. The entity wanted me to built 2 shrines within the boundary. There iss a small gradient (Tekri) in the middle of the boundary and that is where he wishes to have Shrine of Imam Hussain. Just few meters away from the gradient there is a fountain of water & he wishes to have Shrine of Hazrat Abbas Alamdaar. With my eyes bowed down I said to the entity that i don't have enough capital to built two shrines. The entity replies with pride that I am going to get a massive consignment and after which I should have enough capital to built the shrines. I nodded in acknowledgement...".Sometime after the series of incident that night Mohammed Ismail tendered a massive consignment from Surat. The profit was so enormous that he become rich by night. However meanwhile in flourishing success of his business he happened forgot about the dream and the work he had to do. One fine day when he was seated in his office doing his usual work. A boy walks in and reminds him of the dream he had. The boy also warned him if he does not sticks to his promise then all his wealth will be gone. Mohammed Ismail sat in a state of shock & kept on thinking as to how the boy knew about the dream where as he never told anybody about it. He came of the state of shock only to realize that the boy had gone. He quickly rushed out of his cabin to find the boy but he just vanished. He questioned his peon as to where did the boy go ? The peon replied he did not see any boy coming in or going out. Astonished by his answered Mohammed Ismail was assured that this was a warning & he should consider the work that is ordained to him. He went home the very moment and narrated the entire sequence to his family. He left for Jaora the very same day.It took approximately 5 years for Mohammed Ismail to construct the 2 Shrines. He also built a guest house which is known as Raj Mohammed Sarai for people. This incident had happened on the 10th day of Islamic month of Moharram which is the day Hazrat Imam Hussain embraced martydom. hence this place is named after him as 'Hussain Tekri'Nawab Mohammad Iftikhar Ali Khan Bahadur and Mohammed Ismail's Tomb is present in the Shrine of Imam Hussain in Hussain Tekri.".
