Kirk of the Hills was originally part of the United Presbyterian Church of America which merged with the Presbyterian Church in the United States in 1983 to form the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) In 2006 the session of the Kirk of the Hills voted to leave the PC(USA), citing spiritual differences. The Kirk joined the EPC in 2013.Kirk of the Hills began meeting in 1961 in a local school before building a permanent location at 4102 E. 61st Street in Tulsa. They repeated that same process when they started their second campus, Kirk Crossing. Kirk Crossing began 2010 at Jenks West Intermediate School. Kirk Crossing’s permanent location will open in the summer of 2014. Kirk of the Hills and Kirk Crossing are known as “The Kirk” in the Tulsa community. The Kirk is one church with two locations. Their vision statement is “Transformed by Christ to Transform the World.” The Kirk is also known in the community for their Biblical teaching, mission outreach programs locally, nationally and internationally as well as programs for special needs. A special needs day program for adults with intellectual disabilities, called Pathways, is one of two in the state of Oklahoma. It provides work training and continuing education. In addition to Senior Pastor Wayne Hardy, the Kirk employs campus pastors for each campus. Dr. Dan Bair pastors at the Kirk of the Hills campus. The Kirk Crossing Campus Pastor is Sean Farver. In 2013, the Kirk added a fourth pastor, Aaron Elmore, who oversees Adult Discipleship at both campuses. Both campuses offer worship, programs and activities for children, students, special needs and adults. The Kirk of the Hills campus is unique in that it offers both Traditional and Contemporary services at simultaneous times. Kirk Crossing offers a Contemporary service only. Together, on a Sunday morning they have six worship services. For more information about Kirk of the Hills, please visit www.thekirk.com.
