- List_of_UK_Official_Download_Chart_Christmas_number_ones abstract "The UK Official Download Chart is a weekly record chart based on sales of music downloads in the United Kingdom; the term "Christmas number ones" refers to the downloads that are at the top of the chart on Christmas Day. Typically, this will refer to the download that was number one on the Sunday before 25 December – when Christmas Day falls on a Sunday itself, the official number one is the one announced on that day's chart. As of 2011, six different albums and eight different singles have become Christmas number ones. The download chart was first published in 2004. The first single to be Christmas number-one was the "Do They Know It's Christmas" by Band Aid 20, a cover version of the Band Aid track from 20 years earlier. The download charts and overall singles charts have matched the number one and number two songs every year between 2008 and 2013; the two charts also had the same song at number one in 2004.Three winners of British TV series The X Factor have topped the singles download chart at Christmas time: Alexandra Burke, Matt Cardle and Sam Bailey. This is in contrast to the UK Singles Chart Christmas number ones, where The X Factor contestants reached the top of the chart six times in nine years. In 2005 and 2006, the number two songs on the singles charts those years (both of which had finished behind X Factor winners) finished at the top of the download charts.".
