- Lynx_Complex abstract "The Lynx Complex was a proposed complex of skyscrapers in Downtown Miami, Florida, United States. When completed, it would have contained five buildings over 600 feet (180 m) and each over 50 stories. The two tallest buildings in the complex were approved by the city council and the Federal Aviation Administration. The project was cancelled due to financial reasons caused by the Great Recession. The tallest building in the complex, the Lynx Central West Tower, would have risen 746 feet (227 m) and 76 floors. The Lynx Central East Tower, which would have been located immediately adjacent to the Bank of America Tower, was proposed at 678 feet (207 m) tall with 70 floors. Both were originally expected to be completed by late 2009. The architects of the project were PEI Partnership Architects and Chad Oppenheim Architecture & Design. The Lynx North West Tower, the Lynx South East Tower, and the Lynx South West Tower, were proposed to be over 600 ft (183 m) each, and over 50 floors each. These two were to be built at the complex after the first two main towers were completed. Their exact heights were never publicly announced. The complex, unlike other high-rise projects in Miami built in the mid-2000s, was proposed in the center of the Central Business District, not near Biscayne Bay. The Bank of America Tower and the Third Street Metro Station are within a few blocks of the site. The site is bordered by Southeast 3rd Avenue to the east, Southeast 1st Avenue to the west, Southeast 1st Street to the north, and State Road 970 to the south. The Central East tower was proposed for Class A office space and residential condominium space, while the Central West tower was to be used for residential, retail, and office space. The Lynx Square, a retail center at the base of the entire complex, connecting the towers, was to be built immediately after the first two towers, in conjunction with the South West Tower.".
