However, at its height, the total immigrant population in Mexico never exceeded twenty percent of the total. Many of these immigrants came with skills and money to invest and/or ties to allow them to become prominent in business and other aspects of Mexican society. However, due to government restrictions many of them left the country in the early 20th century.".
