He also played Chico Barnes in the TV series based on the Dick Francis racing thrillers. Ford was educated at John Ruskin Grammar School, Croydon, and was a member of the National Youth Theatre, along with appearing in the premiere of The Secret Rapture.Ford was born in Croydon, Surrey. Jeffries went on to write, "I don't know if Blake Morrison's novel is any good, but if it's half as accomplished as Mick Ford's adaptation then last year's Booker prize winner must be stripped of the award" and that "Ford's writing is surely the best in TV drama since Steven Moffat's Sherlock."".
