- Minnesota_International_Center abstract "The Minnesota International Center (MIC) is Minnesota's primary facilitator of foreign policy discussions available to the public. The MIC is not officially part of the University of Minnesota, but it is located on the university's campus. The Global Programs and Strategy Alliance operates out of the MIC. The MIC selects teachers to travel to Turkey to participate in the Teacher Study Tour program, operated by the Turkish Cultural Foundation. Every year, the MIC hosts a fundraising dinner dedicated to a different country. In 1998, the dinner was dedicated to Brazil. Josephine Benz Carpenter was the MIC's director from 1987 until 1990. Emily Anne Tuttle also served in this position for a time. Abbas Mehdi became a member of the MIC's board in 1997. In 2002, the MIC partnered with the Rosenmeier Center for State and Local Government and the Brainerd Lakes Area Chambers of Commerce to host a presentation by Robert Flaten called "Iraq, the U.N. and the Politics of Preemption".".
