- One_Young_World abstract "One Young World is a not-for-profit organization which provides opportunities for young adults to join in a global network of socially committed individuals with leadership potential. Its primary activity is an annual One Young World Summit. The One Young World Summit brings together the young generation’s brightest and best to ensure that their concerns, opinions and solutions are heard. From there, they take action, driving positive change in their communities, companies and countries. More countries are represented at the annual One Young World Summit than any other global youth event other than the Olympics. Since One Young World’s birth in 2010, there have been four Summits. The inaugural Summit took place in London, UK on February 8–10, 2010. Subsequent Summits were held in Zürich, Pittsburgh and Johannesburg. The 2014 Summit will be held in Dublin, Ireland from 15 - 19 October. At the One Young World Summit, which has been referred to as a “Young Davos” by CNN, delegates discuss global issues and develop solutions to meet the challenges of the 21st century. Topics are chosen by a survey of former delegates. The Summit is facilitated by high profile counselors who have excelled in their various fields and range from politicians, activists, founders and CEOs to musicians, models and chefs. They advise, inspire, and celebrate the achievements of the forum's young ambassadors.Young leaders interested in attending a One Young World Summit must submit an application. Interested candidates must be 18 to 30 years old and have demonstrated leadership potential. Most approved applicants have already made an impact in their home country regarding a certain issue of importance to them. Selection criteria includes teamwork, leadership skills, concern for global issues and a track record of volunteer activity.Once attending the Summit, delegates graduate to ambassadors. One Young World ambassadors have directly impacted almost four million people through their work. Some of the most notable projects and initiatives. founded by One Young World ambassadors include The Schoolbag, which enables children to pursue an education by providing basic school supplies to young people in need;, the Hall Pass Tour, which uses music to advance access to higher education; and the FEED project which creates products that help feed the world. This is done through the sale of FEED bags, bears, T-shirts, and other accessories by building a set donation into the cost of each product.".
