In 1976 missionary work expanded in Cedros, Caroni, Tunapuna and Guicao. By 1880 4 mission stations were established in Couva, Princes Town, San Fernando and Tunapuna. In 1883 the first secondary school was opened. In 1891 the communities planted by Canadian and Scottish ministers was gathered into a Presbytery. In 1892 the Presbyterian Theological seminary was opened. In 1893 the Presbyterian Church in Trinidad and Tobago was known as the Presbytery of Trinidad. In 1896 Rev. J. S. Wilson a Scottish minister established the Marabella Presbyterian Church which later become Wilson Memorial Presbyterian Church. In 1898 Morton Memorial Presbyterian Church built a secondary school. In 1931 the agreement between the Canadian Church and the Church of Scotlands was dissolved, the work in Trinidad become an autonomous body. In 1941 the Cumato Presbyterian Church was established. In 1960 the church had a mission status in the United Church of Canada. In 1977 it becomes fully independent.The Presbyterian missionaries did not only focus on the religious, but also attempted to improve and Indian life in many areas.
