It has a population of 1,508 (2008).Puńców is one of the oldest villages in Cieszyn Silesia. It was first mentioned in 1223 as Punzo, in a document of Bishop of Wrocław issued for Norbertine Sisters in Rybnik among villages paying them tithe, together with the village Radowice mentioned as Radovisue, which was in 16th century submerged into Puńców. Puńców was again mentioned in written documents in 1228 and 1229. It belonged then to the Duchy of Opole and Racibórz and Castellany of Cieszyn, which was in 1290 formed into the Duchy of Teschen. There is a Saint George Roman Catholic church in the village. It was built in 1518 in the late Gothic style. After the division of Cieszyn Silesia in 1920, small part of the village has been incorporated to Czechoslovakia and is now administratively a part of Třinec.".
