- Ramgarh_Tal_Lake abstract "Ramgarh Taal is a lake located near Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, India. It covers an area of 723 hectares and its embankment is 18 km long. On the south-east of Gorakhpur city and the south side of the metalled road to the kasia in Deoria district is the Ramgarh Tal. It was formerly covered, save during the rains, with a dense growth of reeds, which was a menace to the health of the town and has since a large part of it been cleared off. An unsuccessful attempt was also made to drain off the water of this lake through a channel from the southern end into the Rapti. Ramgarh Tal is rich in fish and affords living to people in several villages on its banks. It is also said that at very earlier times there was a village found here named Ramgarh and due to some disaster it collapsed and formed a big hole there; a lot of water was collected in it after a long time and resulted in Ramgarh Tal.It was surrounded with grennary and jungles at a time but now many small colonies and other villages are formed there . At its eastern side there is the beautiful colony of sahara states . But now due to so much of pollution here this beautiful pond is polluted. and not only due to this pollution but also due to a water floting plant called water hyacinth(pronounced as hasanth and in Hindi known as jalkumbhi). But nowadays a program is started for its purification and it is thought that after this program Ramgarh Tal will once again get back its beauty.".
