- Rhythm_and_Blues_at_the_Flamingo abstract "Rhythm and Blues at the Flamingo is a live rhythm and blues album recorded by Georgie Fame and the Blue Flames in September 1963 and released by Columbia Records on 1964. It was Fame's first album. In the early 1960s the group were resident at a number of London clubs such as The Whiskey-A-Go-Go in Soho's Wardour Street, home of The Flamingo Club. The club's owner, Rik Gunnell, became the group's manager, and his younger brother Johnny can be heard announcing the songs over the noisy club clientele. The album was produced by Ian Samwell and engineered by Glyn Johns and was released on the EMI Columbia label (Columbia 33SX 1599). It failed to appear on the charts, and first three singles, also released in 1964, 'Do The Dog', 'Do Re Mi', and 'Bend A Little', were likewise not commercially successful. The vinyl album was re-issued on 1984 pn the RSO Records label (RSO SLELP-80), with cover notes by Johnny Gunnell. Gunnel noted: "To Do The Dog involves distinctly sensuous body movements and even the most cooly suburban members of the audience could not fail to be moved to an almost jungle like frenzy."".
