In 2006 after being retired for a full year, he was given an out of competition test, which revealed the hair loss supplements "Propecia" in his sample (Propecia was believed to be a masking agent at the time) doping. Boothby got eight years ineligibility (August 1, 2006 until July 31, 2014) and disqualification of all results from June 25, 2006. He has since been reinstated and cleared by USADA and USATF due to Propecia being taken off the banned substance list. He is currently training for the 2012 games in London.http://www.usatf.org/about/legal/antidoping/suspensions.asp".
