- Seabrook_and_Fildes abstract "Seabrook and Fildes was a Melbourne architecture practice that played a significant role in the introduction of modernist architecture to Victoria between 1933 and 1950. They are most known for their 1933 Functionalist-inspired design for Mac.Robertson Girls High School.A partnership between Norman Hugh Seabrook (12 January 1906-9 September 1978) and Alan Fildes (1909–1956), the practice designed a broad range of civic, industrial, commercial and residential buildings between 1933 and 1950 that rejected the eclecticism of the time in favour of a European influenced modernism. By applying and adapting European modernist design principles to such varied range of building types Seabrook and Fildes played a vital role in modernist architecture's dissemination and gaining of acceptance in Victoria and Australia. The practice operated as Seabrook, Fildes and Hunt from 1955 up until Fildes death in 1956, carrying on as Seabrook, Hunt and Dale until Norman Seabrook's retirement in 1976.".
