He moved to New York in 1992 to pursue a career as a photographer and artist. In 1997, Sebring began an 11-year collaboration with Patti Smith, a documentary feature titled Patti Smith: Dream of Life. The film won the 2008 Sundance Film Festival Excellence In Cinematography Award: Documentary and received a 2010 Primetime Emmy nomination. Sebring’s collaboration with Patti Smith also yielded a book of the same name and an art installation, Objects of Life, which was exhibited at New York’s Robert Miller Gallery from January 6 to February 13 of 2010.Sebring’s other published works include Bygone Days (2005), an award-winning collection of photographs of rural life in South Dakota from 1904–1959, and Lalanne (2006), a book of photographs of sculptors Claude and François-Xavier Lalanne and their respective works of art, released in conjunction with their 2007 New York exhibition at the Paul Casmin Gallery.Sebring is the creative director of Bandwdth Publishing, an interactive publisher devoted to the arts and sciences. In December 2010, Bandwdth published Sebring’s own Bygone Days as an app for the iPad. Bandwdth published a Patti Smith: Dream of Life app in May 2011.In May 2013, Sebring launched Revolution at the 69th Regiment Armory in New York City. The four part exhibition consisted of photographs, sculpture, interactive media and a collection of films. Revolution was Sebring’s photographic investigation of light from multiple perspectives, capturing form and movement from every angle.".
