- The_Absolute_Sound abstract "The Absolute Sound (often referred to as "TAS") is an American monthly magazine which reviews audiophile-oriented sound-reproduction and recording equipment and recordings, and comments on various music-related subjects. It was founded in 1973 by Harry Pearson, who was the Editor in Chief. Until the mid to late 1990s, Pearson owned and directed all rights to "TAS" and the magazine was published by Pearson Publishing Inc., which also published a sister high-end video review magazine published quarterly called The Perfect Vision. Pearson still remains the Chairman of its Editorial Advisory Board and regularly contributes a feature entitled HP's Workshop. The magazine is now published by Absolute Multimedia, Inc., of Austin, Texas. Harry Pearson is no longer listed on the masthead and is therefore, probably not officially associated with the magazine, as he's established his own website, HP Soundings that is most likely considered a competitor by both parties. He has announced he has quit in disapproval of the magazine.".
