He is the founder of the Baseball Collectors Hall of Fame, a website set up to honor those who have a passion and knowledge to research and preserve artifacts of our national pastime. Martin is also the curator of Martin's Baseball Museum. Martin has been collecting baseball memorabilia since 1975. His collection is a time line of baseball history in equipment and memorabilia consisting of over 2,000 items dating back to the 1850s. Some of Martin's greatest finds include an 1871 Mort Rogers score card which was scored with a game between the Boston and Washington clubs played in Cincinnati, Ohio on July 4, 1871. Also on this date the former players of the famous Red Stockings team formed as a team one last time for the fans of Cincinnati.Martin was a contributor to Baseball in Columbus / Vintage Base Ball by James R. Tootle.
