The house was used by King Charles I as his headquarters for the Second Battle of Newbury in 1644. The school incorporates both the old buildings and the new ones.In October 2011, a £4 million sports hall complex was opened at the school. the complex includes a sports hall with a viewing gallery, an ICT suite with 20 computers, offices, changing rooms for both boys and girls, gymnasiums and showers. The Governors voted on Friday 11 May 2012 for Trinity School to become an academy.
