He was further requested to seek the return, in conjunction with the Organization of American States (OAS), of the International Civilian Mission to Haiti which was previously expelled. Acting under Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter, the Council decided to terminate the measures in resolutions 841, 873 and 917 regarding Haiti at 00:01 EST on the day after the return of President Jean-Bertrand Aristide. The Committee established in Resolution 841 would also be dissolved at the same time. Finally, the Secretary-General was asked to consult with the Secretary-General of the Organization of American States regarding measures taken by the OAS consistent with the present resolution.Resolution 944 was adopted by 13 votes to none, with two abstentions from Brazil and Russia.".
