Born in Edinburgh, Scotland he graduated from the University of St. Andrews with a degree in Philosophy with International Relations. Hennigan then taught English at Lanzhou University in the People's Republic of China, and at TDK in Akita Prefecture, northern Japan. A new label created to focus exclusively on stand-up comedy. About the new partnership Hennigan said: “We needed to find a supportive partner who would let Doug Stanhope be Doug Stanhope.
