Bush to serve as ambassador and commissioned on July 10, 2008. He presented his credentials to Queen Beatrix on August 13, 2008.Culbertson has a degree from The Citadel, and served as CEO of Financial Computing, Inc. He has also been a Republican fundraiser in the state of North Carolina.In 1960, Culbertson graduated from The citadel with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science. After graduation, due to the military academy's requirement, he served in the U.S. military as an officer in the U.S. Army Military Intelligence from 1960 to 1962. On May 27, 1938, Culbertson was born in Goldsboro, North Carolina. Despite his extensive career, Culbertson had worked in the private sector for the entirety of his early life. In 1974, he founded Financial Computing where he would eventually retire from in 2000. Culbertson served on the North Carolina Banking Commission from 1973 to 1979, he had also served on the North Carolina Board of Economic Development from 1985 to 1993. Starting in 1988 and ending in 1993, Culbertson was a member of the National Federation of Independent Businessmen. He is also a board member for the Fund for American Studies Board of Trustees since 1988. Since 2005, he has been a member of the American Battle Monuments Commission.In 1970, Culbertson visited the Netherlands--the country that he would eventually be an ambassador for the United States--for the first time. He was a member of The Atlantic Council of Young Political Leaders, Culbertson went to the Netherlands as a representative for that group. From 1973 to 1979, Culbertson served on the board for The Atlantic Council of Young Political Leaders.Culbertson is and has for years been an active member of the American Republican Party. He has served an a multitude of South Carolina State and National committees. In 2000, for the George W. Bush's Presidential campaign, Culbertson was the Co-Chairman for the North Carolina Campaign. In 2005, Culbertson was one of eight Co-Chairs for President George W. Bush's Inauguration--after the president won his re-election in 2004.At home Culbertson has shared one marriage to the same wife and have produced one daughter. His daughter has two sons.".
