- John_Banovich abstract "John Banovich is an American artist born in Butte, Montana. He is among the world’s most renowned wildlife artists. His award-winning original paintings are owned and exhibited by noteworthy organizations and museums across the globe. His life and work have been featured in countless international publications, including Africa Geographic, Wildlife Art, Big Sky Journal, Western Art & Architecture, The Artist's Magazine, Cowboy and Indians, and many others, as well as in various television programs aired on the Outdoor Channel, Versus and PBS.Through his art and the Banovich Wildscapes Foundation, he has supported conservation and humanitarian efforts in India, Russia, North America and Africa and has received several awards for his conservation work. At 46 years of age, Banovich continues to explore and evolve as an artist, pursuing a deep-seated desire to protect wild species around the world and, through his paintings, freeze them forever in time. When not in Africa following the tracks of lions or in the mountains of north America searching for the next wildlife encounter, he can be found painting in his studios in Livingston, Montana, and Carnation, Washington, where he lives with his wife, Amy.At the University of Montana, Banovich studied art and zoology and holds a Visual Communications degree from The Art Institute of Seattle. The artist's works are owned and/or exhibited by corporate organizations such as Tudor Investments and The American Patriot Group as well as national museums including; The Wildlife Experience museum, Hiram Blauvelt, National Cowboy Hall of Fame, the National Museum of Wildlife Art and the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum.Banovich founded the Wildscapes Foundation, supporting conservation and humanitarian causes. He is on the board of the The Craighead Environmental Research Institute.Testimonials“The painting (Once Upon a Time) just reminds me so much of the real thing. It’s the details that count: the wrinkles on the tusk and brow, the clouds of dust rising from the massive feet, the birds scampering to avoid the charge. That’s like the real thing that you would see in Africa.” Richard Childress, President/CEO of Richard Childress Racing"I can assure you, your book, BEAST, will continue to bring me many hours of enjoyment. I began looking at the sensational pictures and found I could hardly put it down." H. Norman Schwarzkopf , General, U.S. Army, Retired“John Banovich has raised the bar for excellence in wildlife art. His work is among the best in the world. When you read his story, it gives you a deeper respect for the man behind the art and enhances an already unparalleled visual experience.” Dick and Mary Cabela, Founders, Cabela’s World's Foremost OutfitterAwards - Press Awards Safari Club International, "CJ McElroy Award," 2010 Society of Animal Artist's, "Presidential Award," 2009, Shelter from the Storm Artists for Conservation, 2009 "Simon Combes Conservation Artist Award" Society of Animal Artist, 2008 "Award of Excellence"; End of Days Society of Animal Artist, 2007 "Presidential Award"; A Giant Among Giants National Rifle Association, "Artist of the Year," 2007, Echoes in Gold Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum, "Birds In Art," 2006, Vulture's View Worldwide Nature Artist's Group, "Conservation Artist of the Month," April 2006 Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, "Artist of the Year," 2005, Royal Performance Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum, "Birds In Art," 2005, Kudu Fever The Artist's Magazine, Animal Art Category Finalist, 2005, The Gathering Place The Artist's Magazine, Landscape Category Finalist, 2004, Under The Baobab The Artist's Magazine, Animal Art Category Finalist, 2004, Beauties and the Beast Safari Club International, "The People's Choice," 2003 Society of Animal Artists, "Award of Excellence," 1997, White Rhino and Plovers Society of Animal Artists, "Wildlife Art News Award," 1997, The Defensive Line Society of Animal Artists, "Activities Press Award," 1996, 104th Congress Pacific Rim Wildlife Art Show, "People`s Choice," 1996, Heading for Deep Water The Artist's Magazine, Animal Art Category Finalist, 1995, The Defensive Line Pacific Rim Wildlife Art Show, "Best of Show," 1994, The Patriarch Game Coin Show, "Best New Artist," 1994 Pacific Rim Wildlife Art Show, "Best of Show," 1993, In the Heat of DayWhen not in India following the tracks of tigers or in Africa searching for the next wildlife encounter, he can be found painting in his studios in Livingston, Montana, and Carnation, Washington, where he lives with his wife, Amy.".
