- Mad_Decent abstract "Mad Decent is a Philadelphia via Los Angeles-based record label spearheaded by Diplo, a successful record producer and also leader of dancehall project Major Lazer. The label has helped introduce Brazilian baile funk and Angolan kuduro to clubs around the world. Recently, it has embraced moombahton, a genre of electronic dance music founded by DJ Dave Nada. The label is also known for its series of free concerts in major cities known as Block Parties. This tradition began in Philadelphia in 2008. Another venture of Mad Decent is their imprint label Jeffrees, that regularly puts releases out for a limited-time free download and then later on online retailers. The label is home to a large roster of techno, dancehall and electropop artists among other artists. Its roster currently includes Baauer, Blaqstarr, Crookers, Diplo, Major Lazer, The Partysquad, Raf Riley, Riff Raff, Snoop Lion, and Zeds Dead among others. For Christmas 2013, the label re-released various singles from the label mixed with Christmas songs. These were compiled in an EP called A Very Decent Christmas. The label gained more attention in 2012 and 2013, with the worldwide success of Baauer's single "Harlem Shake", which went viral on YouTube. It is also received attention for its involvement in the production and management of Snoop Dogg's album "Reincarnated", which he released under the name 'Snoop Lion' as he converted to Rastafari and began to make reggae instead of his usual hip hop.Since 2008, the label has created a multiple city Mad Decent Block Party tour throughout the United States. This travelling festival began at a much smaller scale with simply a rented tent on a Philadelphia street. The event is in line with the overall concept of the label showcasing global pop and dance music. With the growth of electronic music's popularity in the United States, Mad Decent Block Party has now expanded to 22 dates in 2014, up from 13 in 2013 and 8 in 2012. The featured artists at the events has expanded from featuring Mad Decent's roster to high profile artists such as Matt and Kim and Outkast.".
